Makin’ the Donuts
Since the New Year, I’ve been in a homebody, domestic mode-cleaning, organizing, cooking…and baking. That’s something I have a love/hate relationship with. Maybe it’s the precise nature of baking, having to accurately measure out the ingredients, or my low expectations that come through, but my results when I bake have been less than stellar. Never-the-less, I was craving a donut this morning, but did not want to go out to the store in the cold rain. After an internet search, I found RetroDinnerDiva’s recipe for 20-minute donut holes from scratch. Just what I was looking for. I had all the ingredients, the recipe didn’t seem complicated, so I went right to it. Well, as promised, they were easy and they were quick and they were perfect. I sprinkled some with cinnamon sugar and some in confectioners sugar, but they were tasty plain too. Thanks Stephanie at http://www.retrodinnerdiva.wordpress.com. Check out her blog for some great recipes, tips and humor. A cup of tea and these little bites (not too many) cheered me up on such a dreary day!
ROSEMARY WREATH
The rosemary in my garden is still looking great so I thought I’d cut some to make a wreath. It’s very simple to do and requires just a few tools. Together with the rosemary, you’ll need clippers, a wire base and some green floral wire. So the first thing to do is make a loop with the floral wire on the frame. Then place one stem on the frame and start wrapping with the wire onto the frame. Keep adding stems as you continue to wrap, overlapping the previous stem and try to hide the wire under the small rosemary leaves. Cut some smaller pieces from the tops of stems to fill in any gaps. Hold the wreath up and see what you think. You can add a ribbon, some berries or rosehips, but I think it looks great just as it is. And it smells wonderful!
Always Believe PAPERWEIGHT
I’ve been working on some paperweights. I think they make such beautiful and unique gifts. This is the most recent, but I’ll also post some that I did awhile ago. I used the same “sprigs” design I painted for some note cards and the lettering was done on the computer. I love the quote and think it’s a good way to live life, cause you never know. Be happy!
